I need some boots.
I need some boots that 1) aren't cowboy boots, 2) will be decent for riding the motorcycle, and 3) don't look stupid with my usual work attire (slacks and a polo or short-sleeved button-up shirt). Do such boots exist? I don't want to be a nerd.
When I was in high school, I discovered an old pocket protector in a drawer. It had a Texaco logo on it. Since I always carried a pen in my pocket I figured this would be handy. I didn't even know it was called a pocket protector, I just knew it was for carrying pens.
I carried it for awhile, but I realized that the only other people who had them were pretty, uh, unusual. At some point, I learned how to dress in a somewhat normal fashion.
Then I started wearing cowboy boots. That was very unusual back then, even in Texas. (Unusual, but not nerdy.) In my class of over 500, I bet there were only two or three guys who wore cowboy boots. Sometimes I would wear a Wrangler western-style shirt. (I had a couple of 'em.)
When the movie Urban Cowboy came out (while I was in college), I pretty much quit wearing the boots... it wasn't different anymore. Of course, Jacque bought me a pair somewhere in there. Anyway, there was no advantage to wearing them anymore (except to be taller).
I never owned an Izod brand shirt (the ones with the alligators). There was a girl at college who had a "dead alligator" shirt, and I wanted one of those, but never got one.
So lets see, I wanted to be different. I didn't want to be preppy. But I didn't want to be a nerd either. I'm still that way. I'm not going to buy anything with a Tommy Hilfiger logo on it. My attire would work fine on any game show (where you aren't allowed to wear stuff with brand logos).
This has been exceptionally random. To make it more concise: I don't want cowboy boots, but I do need some sort of boots. Any suggestions?
