Depends on what you're doing in the nice weather. It's February 7th, and it's 59 degrees. If you live where it snows a lot, I'm sure that sounds wonderful. But it makes me wonder whether we're going to have a miserable summer.
So, what did I do today? First, I cut back the crepe myrtles. I have two of them, and the one near the front door never lost all of its leaves! But there's green on the bark, so I know they'll be coming out soon.
The vincas still look good. Never enough cold to kill them. The grass never really all turned brown, either, and it looks like it's starting to green up a little. At least I didn't have to mow in January this year! I bet you folks in Florida have to mow all year 'round.
Next, I cleaned out the workshop. I got rid of some boxes that shouldn't have been out there in the first place. Boxes in a workshop turn into mouse-houses. (What a mess.) There's plenty of room for the motorcycle now, so I guess I'll leave it there.
I threw out the Apple II dual floppy drive. I finally realized that 1) it isn't worth the effort to sell it on eBay and 2) I'm not going to buy an old Apple II+ for fun, ever. I bought the drive brand new in early 1986. I had just gotten a big Christmas bonus at work. I was planning to buy a used Apple II (converted to a II+) from a guy at work, and load it from tape instead of floppy. Then I saw an ad for this dual floppy drive. It was less than $200, great price at the time. (Floppy drives for a PC are now about $12/each.) I ordered it. I didn't ask if it was okay. I never had the guts to buy the computer after that, even though I had cleared it already. Anyway... back to our original subject:
So how picky am I about the weather? Well, I'd like a hint of "real winter." No, I don't want snow on the ground all winter and to be stuck indoors for days and days. I guess I'd like a range similar to what we have here in Southeast Texas, except about 10 degrees cooler on average. Instead of average highs in January of 58, make it 48. In August, instead of 95, make it 85. Where is that place? Virginia maybe? South Carolina?
Should have been riding the motorcycle. After Adam and Jesse are gone, I'd like an apartment with a 5 car garage. All play and no yard work... yeah.
