A common problem with the as the manual shifting Saturn S-series
cars get older is that the bushing that holds the cable linkage to the shift
lever deteriorates and brakes. Automobile companies, for liability reasons,
can't repair one of their vehicles with anything less than a complete, new solution,
which in this case means about $400 worth of parts. Fortunately, the aftermarket
has no such restrictions, and have come to the rescue with replacement parts.
I ordered a bushing from the "Saturn
Bushing Man" on eBay for $19.99, and made the repair in about 15 minutes.
